Textual Exercise:-

Q1- How does the poet suggest that you identify the lion and tiger?

Q2- What does Wells says about the Asian lion in this poem?

Ans- Wells says that the Asian lion is a large animal. It is of brownish yellow colour. It roars before killing its prey. They are found in the forests of eastern countries.

Q3- How does Carolyn Wells describe the best?

Ans- A bear catches hold its victim and hugs very hard. In case the victim struggles to get free , the bear gives another hug until the victim gives up.

Q4- What features of the leopard and the bears are described by the poet in " How to Tell Wild Animals"?

Ans- A leopard had spots on it's skin. It attacks its victim with a big leap. The painful cries of the victim don't affect him. A bear gives a very hard hug to its victim.

Q5- Write a brief summary of the poem " How to Tell Wild Animals".

Ans- This is a very humorous poem . In it the poet tells us how we can identify different wild animals. If it is a large tawny beast that roars before killing you, it is an Asian lion. If it has black stripes on its yellow skin, it is Bengal tiger. If it is a spotted animal and leaps at you again and again, it is leopard. If a large beast hugs you hard, it is a bear. It is a crocodile if it weeps on seeing you and a hyena if it smiles. If it is a thing that looks like a lizard and can't be seen easily, it is chameleon.
